» Stoneshard gave me a lot of opportunities to play with language and I love working on it.

One example: There is an enemy type called Proselyte. Simply transliterating iit nto Turkish fell flat, and there wasn’t a direct equivalent that carried the right weight. But knowing their backstory, their grotesque forms, and their betrayal of faith, I saw an opportunity to craft something better — something that truly belonged in the world of Stoneshard.

I named them “Kankancığı” and “Kankancıkları” in plural.
  • Kan means blood in Turkish.
  • Kancık is a term used for a traitor or a wild, vicious dog — a slur often reserved for those who abandon their faith or cause.

It was a perfect fit: a name that captured their cursed transformation, their treachery, and their grotesque, blood-drinking existence — while also feeling naturally supernatural in Turkish. It wasn’t just a translation; it was an extension of the game’s worldbuilding.

You can see these creatures for yourself on the game’s official Wiki.

This is the kind of work I take pride in — finding the soul of a game and making sure it speaks with power. «
