BRITISH WIT IN TURKISH TONGUE

» Last Stop‘s complex story and film-like quality required me to imagine how each scene would unfold. Living in Britain gave me the advantage of understanding the game’s British humour and nuances, allowing me to translate it in a way that would resonate with Turkish players. I reflected how Turkish teenagers speak and I am glad to see many let’s players playing the game with a huge smile on their face and bursts of laughs. I watched a lot of YouTube videos when the game got released and it made me so happy to see people received my creative choices well. I carefully crafted each character's voice and emotional shifts, ensuring the translation captured the tension, humor, and depth of the original.

One highlight of localization was translating the chapter name “ Commuter Rage” as “Fıttıran Yolcu”, it immediately resonated with all players. We don’t have a term for ‘commuter’ in Turkish, but ‘fıttırmak’ means flip or fly into a rage and it is exactly what happens in a very important scene early in the game. Rather than settle down with a dull, meaningless translation, I truly localized it and this is the essence of localization itself. Caring enough to make it truly ours in our language. «
